About

Artist Marinda Michele

Hi You, Welcome!

My name is Marinda and I’m an artist based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Born into a mixed family of Dutch, Indonesian and American nationalities, all obsessed with food and travel, I was exposed to various cultures and types of art from a young age. Still I followed society’s expectations by getting a Business Management degree at Hotelschool The Hague and working several office jobs.

At 26 years old, I started appreciating my creativity and living as an artist! I find inspiration wherever I look. It can be sparked by my interests in art, philosophy, psychology and spirituality or simply scrolling Pinterest or a deep conversation with a friend.

Now, I spend most of my time writing (I’m also a part-time Copy Writer in Amsterdam), drawing and painting while listening to old songs or new podcasts. Once in a while, I dabble in photography, Procreate, Photoshop and poetry too. I love experimenting with different materials and ideas.

I’m practically learning and playing for a living!

My Art Style

I connect contrasting concepts by admiring, questioning and highlighting contradictions I discover in my own emotions, societal constructs and other principles. Visualizing these thought-provoking and in other times comforting creations, I transform my views on feminism, mental health and more, while hoping to empower others to do just the same.

I can translate these concepts visually on canvas, through poetry, or whatever other medium. I even dance and sing! Whether I’m in a good or bad mood, it helps me express all these feelings, to translate or transform them into something comprehensible or releasable.

Creative expression has become a necessity, in whatever way possible.
